County

Office & Professional
Employees International Union, AFL-CIO Ozaukee County Grievance
Form |
| NAME: Sheriff
Department Cooks |
DEPARTMENT:
Sheriffs |
| STATEMENT OF
GRIEVANCE: The County violated Article IV, Section 1, (18) and
Side Bar Letter 8 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement by
failing to provide an opportunity to the employees to submit a
proposal for retaining the work for the Ozaukee County Jail meal
program and the Senior Meal program. The employees were not
notified when the Sheriff submitted requests for proposals to
operate the program from four separate vendors. A copy of the
proposed contract with the outside vendor, CBM, was not provided
until March 27, 2006, the day we were informed our positions were
being subcontracted. Further, we believe the County has acted in
bad faith by engaging in surface bargaining with no intentions of
considering any proposal from the affected employees. |
| ARTICLES VIOLATED:
Article 4, Section 1, (18) and Side Bar Letter 8 and all other
applicable articles |
| REMEDY SOUGHT:
The contract between CBM and the County be voided and the
employees be given the opportunity to submit a proposal to retain
the work for the Ozaukee County jail meal and Senior Meal
programs. Further, the County shall provide to the Union and the
employees all necessary information for the development of a
proposal. Affected employees who suffer lost wages or benefits as
a result of the County's action to subcontract these programs
shall be made whole. |
